Travelling to other countries, you will hardly think of problems which you will face when you come to a new place. However, there is definitely one thing that is true: if you want to go to a foreign country, you must know at least something about it not to get into trouble or just enjoy your visit knowing where to go and what to see.

So, let us look at the problems you may have visiting Ukraine.

Problem visiting Ukraine 1.  What to see?

As I have already written, before visiting Ukraine, you might think of where to go and what to see. Here you will have no problems, as Ukraine has a lot to offer a choosy tourist.

First of all, there are many historical places, visiting which you will learn how Kyiv Rus was established. Most of these are situated in Kyiv, of course.

If you are interested in Ukrainian traditions, you are welcome to visit the West of Ukraine, especially small villages in the Carpathian mountains. There many people still do many things the way their ancestors did.

Are you interested in science? Come to Kharkiv. It is a University capital of Ukraine with lots of museums and universities. You can also enjoy visiting one of the biggest squares in Europe.

For more entertainment you can visit Dnipro and Odessa cities.

Problem visiting Ukraine 2. Will the climate suit me?

The climate in Ukraine is similar to European. Winters are not very cold with the average temperature of about -15° and not much snow. However sometimes there can be snowstorms, especially in the Carpathian mountains. In summer it is quite hot, about  +35°. So be prepared to drink a lot of water and do not forget to take light clothes with you.

Problem visiting Ukraine 3. Which Ukrainian souvenirs to buy?

Is it really a big problem? Of course not. Ukraine has lots of nice trifles to offer a tourist who wants to bring something special home. So, if you are interested in getting some souvenirs from Ukraine, you can buy table cloths or towels embroidered with traditional Ukrainian ornaments as well as various magnets and pictures of Ukrainian Cossacks and girls wearing traditional wreaths of flowers on their head. If you like traditional clothes, you can buy linen shirts with hand-made embroidery called «Vyshivanka».

Problem visiting Ukraine 4. Will I like the cuisine?

To tell you the truth, I have never met a person who could say they did not like Ukrainian cuisine, which is tasty but rather caloric. Everyone likes our dumplings with berries, meat, cottage cheese and potatoes, which are usually served with sour cream or fried onions and cracklings. Borshch is another dish which will definitely surprise you. However, if you do not think you will like the local food, you can find lots of restaurants with cuisine of any countries that you like.

Problem visiting Ukraine 5. How will I make calls?

I am sure that this is not a problem at all, since any phone with GSM standard can be used in Ukraine. What you need to do is turn it on when you arrive and it will register in the local network. So, you can keep your number. The only thing you have to find out is the cost of the calls from your mobile company. Still, if you do not want to pay much for making calls, which can be quite frequent, you can buy a local sim-card, which is very cheap and every mobile company has good offers for clients, helping them to be in touch all the time and spend little money on that.

Problem visiting Ukraine 6. Which money do I have to use in Ukraine?

It is not a secret, that the national currency in Ukraine is hrivna, which is easily exchanged in all banks and numerous currency exchange offices. However, if you do not want to have a lot of money with you, you can pay by your credit card (Visa, Master-Card) in most places.

So, as you can see, Ukraine is quite a nice and tourist-friendly place. That is why, be sure that you will have no problems if you come here. Just the usual travel routine, which is, actually, quite pleasant.
